IDx3 Campaign

Our new campaign has launched!

To help minimise the risk of underage drinking and keep our venues and patrons safe this spring/summer, we have initiated the ID3 campaign.

What is IDx3?

Anyone who appears under the age of 21, may be asked for up to 3 forms of ID.

What types of ID are acceptable?

Acceptable forms of ID will include medicare card, secondary photo ID, bank cards, birth certificate, utility bills or social media profiles.

Why has this been implemented?

Young people and particularly those under the age of 18, are vulnerable to the damaging effects of alcohol. In Australia, alcohol is a key factor in the three leading causes if deaths among adolescents – unintentional injury, homicide and suicide.

Alcohol use can increase a persons risk of becoming a victim and/or offender of crime and those aged 16-24 are twice as more likely to drink excessively on a single occasion.

If a minor is found intoxicated in a licensed premises, they can be fined between $220 – $2,200. For the licensee of that venue, this fine can be a lot more.

As a community, we want to keep our young people safe and we hope our new initiative will minimise the use of false identification and underage drinking.

ID3 is a Liquor Accord initiative and as a result will not be used to prosecute venues or individuals that do not adhere. The intent of this initiative is to help reduce the risk of prosecution for licensed premises
