What do Liquor Accords do?
The primary role of the Sutherland Shire Liquor Accord is to create a safe community by reducing the incidence of alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour in and around licensed premises.
This is achieved by reaching agreements on ways to improve the operation of licensed venues, educating staff and students on various alcohol-related topics, and developing initiatives to address issues like drink driving, fake IDs, and supplying alcohol to minors.
With training nights, media publications, and talks in local high schools, the Sutherland Shire Liquor Accord ensures that patrons have a safe and enjoyable environment to indulge in responsible drinking.
The Sutherland Shire Liquor Accord goes beyond just advocating for liquor laws and instead takes a proactive approach by responding to situational issues and developing partnerships with key stakeholders including the police, local council, schools, and community-based sporting clubs.
By working together, we are able to reduce the number of alcohol-related incidents and make the community a more pleasant and secure place to be.
